Enzyme Peels
What is an Enzyme? Enzyme is a protein generally derived from fruit, vegetable, dairy, or animal origin that acts as a biological catalyst to accelerate or produce a chemical change. For skin that chemical change has a direct effect on the keratin that is also a protein.
How does an enzyme work? Enzymes when applied topically to the skin digest the cells of the stratum corneum-these are dead cells that will eventually slough away and an enzyme will speed that process by softening and digesting the protein. The French were the first to discover and work with tomato enzyme for acne skin. Most popular enzymes are Papaya and Pineapple. $60
